The Participant, like the Silent Observer, is fully engaged in class discussions and activities. The Participant takes risks by volunteering ideas and sharing his or her thoughts. |

The Distractor engages in behavior which pulls his or her classmates’, as well as the teacher’s, attention away from class activities. |
The Absent Student is physically present in class but his or her thoughts and attention lie elsewhere. |

The Disciplinarian is a teacher who uses punishment to enforce order in the classroom. |
The Facilitator is a teacher who provides structure and guidance but allows students to take responsibility for their learning experience. | ||
About These Cards |

Some years after taking a Soul Collage workshop, I created these cards for a lesson I developed on classroom dynamics. The activity helps students develop an awareness of how the behavior of students and teachers affects the learning environment. |
